It's time for another 'Good idea, Bad idea'!

Good idea: Encouraging people to explore Europe by train rather than plane.
Bad idea: Encouraging people to drink their way around Europe on trains while they avoid the restrictions of planes.

Favourite line: "And to keep yourself entertained, play a few games. I came up with one last night – while the train rattles along, try standing on one leg as long as possible. The loser has to down his drink. Hours of fun." Yeah, sure. Say that again when you're chucked off the train on the French-Swiss border for being drunk and disorderly.

(There's also some bad maths in the carbon calculations at the end of the article - the final saving ought to be a lot more than 1.7kg of CO₂.)

Yes, because Brits don't already have a reputation as the lairy pissed fuckwits in most major tourist destinations. We need to work hard on making sure our national image as binge-drinkers is ever more firmly fixed in the minds of our dearly beloved fellow Europeans.
